After setting up a pilot program at Idaho City Schools, the counselor, Lynsey, sent this email:
"After we spoke with the 6th grade girls and told them that Dawn put the basket in their restroom, we had several girls ask to go to the restroom, as they were so excited to see it. They all came out smiling and one girl said, "There are multiple sizes and options! That is so awesome that we have options!"
An enterprising nurse at Kuna Middle School was running low on supplies -- a problem that most schools putting product IN girls' bathrooms face. After running the message through Admin, the school used their parent communication platform and sent out a basic message to all parents asking for period product DONATIONS and let them know that donations could be sent directly to the school via Amazon. Tiffany shared that even parents of boys sent donations to support the girls! And just look at this response, which is not even all of the products donated!
Our Days for Girls SW Boise Chapter is grateful for all of the educators (counselors, nurses, teachers, principals) that are supporting young women's menstrual health while they are at school. Especially as teenagers, all girls face the inevitability of starting their period and caught without pads or tampons. Having this happen at school is especially humiliating and embarrassing. WE ARE CHANGING THIS!
Please consider donating products directly to the middle school and high school that serves your neighborhood. We are sure they will be GRATEFUL.
